Coach Stephanie White has issued an apology following her team’s frustrating 86–66 defeat against the Minnesota Lynx, acknowledging that the performance fell short of the standards expected from the players, coaching staff and supporters.
The disappointing result saw Minnesota establish control of the game and maintain their advantage for long stretches. Despite efforts to respond, White’s team struggled to find consistency offensively while also facing difficulties containing the Lynx on the defensive end.
Speaking after the game, White expressed her disappointment with the performance and accepted responsibility for the result.
“I’m disappointed in the way we competed tonight, and I apologize to our fans who continue to support us,” White said. “We know we are capable of playing much better than this. Credit goes to Minnesota, but we also have to look honestly at ourselves and understand where we fell short.”
The 66-point effort highlighted some of the team’s offensive struggles, with missed opportunities and turnovers preventing them from building momentum. Minnesota took advantage of those mistakes and turned several possessions into points, making it difficult for White’s side to mount a sustained comeback.
White also emphasized that the defeat should serve as a learning experience rather than something the team allows to define its season.
“We have to respond,” she said. “There’s no point making excuses. We need to watch the film, identify what went wrong and make sure we are better prepared for the next game.”
The coach reportedly spoke with her players after the final buzzer, encouraging them to remain focused and united despite the difficult result. She stressed the importance of improving communication, defensive intensity and execution on offense.
For the players, the challenge now is to put the loss behind them and respond with a stronger performance in their next outing. White believes the team has the ability to bounce back, but acknowledged that improvement must begin with greater effort and accountability.
The 86–66 loss will undoubtedly be a frustrating result for the team, but White’s message was clear: the focus must now shift toward correcting mistakes and preparing for
the next challenge.
