Chicago Sky Forward Dijonal Carrington Was  Arrested After a Fight Broke-Out at a Popular Walmart Store this Evening …

Chicago Sky forward Dijonal Carrington was arrested Thursday evening following a physical altercation that broke out inside a Walmart store on the city’s South Side, police confirmed.

According to Chicago Police Department reports, officers responded shortly after 8:35 p.m. to multiple 911 calls describing a fight near the household goods aisle. Witnesses told investigators the dispute began when Carrington and another shopper both reached for the last remaining multipack of paper towels during a late-night shopping trip.

Words were exchanged, and the situation quickly turned physical. Store security video later reviewed by police reportedly shows Carrington shoving the other man before throwing a punch. The two scuffled, knocking over shelves and scattering products across the floor as panicked customers fled toward the exits. A store employee who tried to separate the pair was pushed aside in the chaos.

Responding officers arrived within minutes, broke up the fight, and placed Carrington in handcuffs after he allegedly continued yelling and resisted initial commands. The 28-year-old athlete was charged with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. He was transported to a local district station for processing and is expected to appear in bond court Friday.

The other man involved, identified only as a 36-year-old Chicago resident, declined medical attention and was not charged. No serious injuries were reported.

A Walmart spokesperson said the store was briefly closed for cleanup and security review before reopening later that night. “We take the safety of our associates and customers seriously and do not tolerate violence in our stores,” the company stated.

Carrington, who has appeared in limited minutes for the Chicago Sky this season, has not yet issued a public statement. Team officials declined comment Thursday night, saying they were aware of the incident and monitoring the situation.

One shopper who witnessed the altercation described the scene as “sudden and intense.” “One second people were arguing over paper towels, the next everything was flying off the shelves,” the witness said. “It was pure chaos.”

Police have not released additional details pending formal charges. The arrest marks an unexpected off-court controversy for the Sky organization amid an already challenging season.
