Manchester, UK – Manchester United Women’s manager Marc Skinner has responded to recent criticism surrounding the club’s direction and his leadership, stating candidly, “You can’t please everybody.”
Skinner’s remarks come after growing scrutiny from fans and football pundits, especially in the wake of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s controversial comments prioritizing the men’s team. Despite this, Skinner has doubled down on his commitment to the women’s side, stressing that criticism is part of the job and that his focus remains on long-term progress.
“I don’t hear [the criticism]. I’m used to dealing with that pressure,” Skinner said. “We’re building something here, and that takes time, effort, and belief – even when it’s not universally appreciated.”
The comments follow a mixed season for United Women, who lifted the FA Cup but only managed a fifth-place finish in the Women’s Super League. While the results have sparked debate among supporters, Skinner remains confident in the club’s trajectory.
“This is a process. Winning a major trophy is no small feat. We know where we are headed, and we’re working every day to get there,” he added.
