Team USA captured its fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup title on Sunday, overpowering France 97-79 in the final at Berlin Arena. The victory extended the Americans’ remarkable dominance and delivered an emotional high for rising stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.
The game was far from a coronation early. France seized control, building a 14-point lead in the second quarter behind sharp three-point shooting and aggressive play. Team USA looked rattled. Then the tide turned. A late first-half surge, capped by a crucial three-pointer from Clark at the buzzer, cut the deficit to two points at halftime. The Americans exploded in the third quarter, outscoring France 30-12 and never looking back.
Breanna Stewart led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds, earning tournament MVP honors. Jackie Young added 18 points. Off the bench, Clark contributed 12 points on efficient 4-of-5 shooting, including two threes, plus three assists in 13 minutes. Boston was perfect from the field, scoring seven points and providing physical presence inside.
After the final buzzer, cameras caught Clark standing near the court alongside Boston. Her voice wavered with emotion as she spoke about the weight of representing her country, the pressure of the World Cup stage, and the unwavering support of fans who believed through every tense possession. The moment transcended the scoreline. It reflected the resilience, discipline, and unity that define Team USA basketball.
This was more than another championship. It marked Clark’s major international debut ending in gold and Boston’s steady contributions helping turn a competitive final into a decisive triumph. Teammates celebrated as the magnitude sank in: Team USA were once again world champions.
The 97-79 victory over France will be remembered as another chapter in USA Basketball’s enduring dynasty—one fueled by veterans and young talent alike, and sealed by belief when it mattered most. 🇺🇸🏆
