Paige Bueckers Issues Apology to Caitlin Clark After Heated Foul  during Wings’ vs.  Fever Last Nights Thriller ….

Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers has issued a public apology to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark following a tense on-court exchange during Thursday night’s 91-85 victory that snapped the Fever’s five-game winning streak.

With under 10 seconds left in the second quarter and the Wings holding a foul to give, Bueckers intentionally grabbed Clark’s left arm while defending her near midcourt. The contact drew a personal foul. Clark, visibly frustrated, yanked her arm free and fired the ball down the court, the throw sailing near Bueckers’ head. As the Fever star continued to protest, cameras caught Bueckers raising a hand and telling her to “calm down.”

The moment added spice to an already competitive matchup between two of the WNBA’s brightest young stars and former No. 1 overall picks. Both struggled offensively—Clark finished with 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting and nine assists, while Bueckers had 13 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with a season-high 32 points and Jessica Shepard added a career-best 26. Kelsey Mitchell paced Indiana with 37 points.

Bueckers was later assessed a technical foul in the third quarter after arguing with an official following another foul on Clark. Tension from the earlier sequence appeared to linger.

In a statement released Friday morning, Bueckers addressed the incident directly.

“I want to apologize to Caitlin for the way that play went down,” Bueckers said. “We both compete hard and I was just trying to use the foul to give, but I can see how the contact and everything that followed felt extra. There’s a lot of respect between us. She’s an incredible player and competitor. No hard feelings—looking forward to the next one.”

Clark has not publicly responded. The two share a history of intense college and professional battles marked by mutual respect. Thursday’s game closed their regular-season series, with Dallas taking the season matchup 2-1.

The apology comes as both players continue navigating the physicality and spotlight of the WNBA. Fans and analysts noted the exchange as another chapter in their budding rivalry rather than lasting animosity. The Wings improve to 21-16 while the Fever sit at 24-13.
